Michael Carson Award for Excellence in TV Drama Production
About the Award:
In 2006 director Michael Carson was to receive an ADG Accreditation Award for Excellence at the annual ADG Dinner. Sadly, he passed away prior to his award being presented, so this Award has been renamed in his honour. It recognises excellence in the craft of television drama direction.
The 2010 Michael Carson Award was presented to TONY TILSE.
In 2006 in Encore magazine an independent panel of industry practitioners nominated Tony one of Australia’s top ten directors, including him in a list which featured Baz Luhrmann, Rowan Woods and Phillip Noyce. Tony’s credits include the hugely successful UNDERBELLY series for the Nine Network and Screentime, TO CATCH A KILLER for ITV and Ten, SCORCHED for Goalpost Pictures and Nine and US cable Sci Fi hit FARSCAPE, series 1-4. In 2008 his work on UNDERBELLY (series two) won the award for Best Direction in a TV Series at the Australian Directors Guild Awards and in 2009 SCORCHED received a number of awards including an International Interactive Digital Emmy Award. Tony was set up director and co-producer on the award winning TV series LOCKIE LEONARD for the Nine Network and Goalpost Pictures.
Tony recently completed A MODEL DAUGHTER; a telemovie for Screentime and Network Ten and Underbelly Three – The Golden Mile. He is currently working on a telemovie for Channel Nine titled Panic at Rock Island.
