The ADG, in collaboration with the Directors Guild of America (DGA) offers an Award to an Australian feature without US distribution to screen at a special program in the US called the Directors Finders Series. The DGA offers special screenings at their state-of-the-art cinema facilities in their Los Angeles headquarters, and in New York to spotlight undistributed low budget and/or independent feature films to US distributors and agents.

The Directors’ Finder Series was initiated by the Independent Directors Committee of the DGA chaired by Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Oceans Thirteen), and has, since its inception, screened more than 75 independent films. Of those films, approximately a third have gone on to secure US distribution. Originally offered to US independent films only, the Directors Finders Series was expanded to include Australian, Irish, British and New Zealand Directors through their representative organisations via the International Association of English Speaking Directors Organisation (IAESDO), of which the Australian Directors Guild is a founding Member.
